Amanda Evans is a dancer and choreographer from Copper Canyon, Texas. Currently, Amanda Evans is dancing in Charleston, South Carolina with Ballet Evolution and teaching students of all ages at Ballet Academy of Charleston, Dance Academy of Charleston and Charleston Dance Institute.
Amanda has been dancing for twenty years and has had the opportunity to train, perform and compete across the United States and abroad. She had her primary training at The Ballet Conservatory in Lewisville, Texas and was a member of Lakecities Ballet Theatre from 2009-2014. She has also attended summer programs including American Ballet Theatre in New York City, Boston Ballet and Centre de Dansa de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
Amanda graduated from The University of Oklahoma Weitzenhoeffer Family College of Fine Arts as a Ballet Performance major with a minor in Nonprofit Organizational Studies in May of 2018. While pursuing her education at the University of Oklahoma, she trained and performed with both Oklahoma Festival Ballet and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma. During her time at The University of Oklahoma, Amanda received several honors including the Miguel Terekhov Ballet Choreography Award, the Juli Busken Memorial Scholarship, the Ballet Ovation Award for Excellence in Performance and the Yvonne Chateau Award for Outstanding Devotion to the Arts.
Amanda aspires to dance and choreograph throughout her life and share her passion for dance with her community.
Amanda’s work as a choreographer has been selected for The Young Choreographers Showcase at The University of Oklahoma 2016-2018. Her piece ‘Catalyst’ was awarded the Miguel Terekhov Ballet Choreography Award and Scholarship in 2016. Additionally, Amanda has been commissioned to choreograph for Intensity Dance Company in Lewisville, Texas 2015-2016 and was invited to choreograph a piece for the Medieval Fair in Norman, Oklahoma.
